Les Vieilles Vignes Françaises is deeply rooted in the history of Champagne Bollinger. Ungrafted, they embody an almost vanished memory, an exceptional heritage bearing witness to the Champagne region before phylloxera. Les Chaudes-Terres and Clos St Jacques in Aÿ are the mythical plots of the Old French Vines of the House of Bollinger. These two Clos are classified as Grand Cru and are cultivated in crowds according to the traditional method of provignage.
For this new vintage of the Vieilles Vignes Françaises, Champagne Bollinger rediscovers the authenticity of these two Clos wines. The 2014 vintage is inspired by the historical codes of the cuvée, highlighting the exceptional heritage of the House.

The soul and taste of the eternal Champagne

Vieille Vignes Françaises 2014 is a blend of 100% Pinot Noir Grand Cru. It is only made up of the harvest of two mythical vineyards located near the House in Aÿ: Les Chaudes-Terres and Clos St Jacques.

Its dosage is moderate: 4 grams per litre. 1865 bottles of the 2014 vintage of the Vieilles Vignes Françaises were produced. Each of them is numbered and entirely dressed by hand.

The secret of a very contrasting wine year

The 2014 wine-growing year was marked by a succession of particular climatic conditions: a rainy autumn and winter were followed by dry and sunny months, leading to an early bud break. Flowering takes place in an exceptionally sunny month, while a cold and wet summer is compensated by a sunny September. Despite these strong constraints, thanks to a perfect mastery of the picking process, the grapes from this harvest offer an irreproachable quality, giving birth to a fresh and gourmet 2014 vintage of the Vieilles Vignes Françaises.
