his is the new vintage of last year's Best Wine from the McLaren Vale Wine Show - it has won the Top Gold Medal at the 2024 Royal Adelaide Wine Show, and the Gold Medal with 95 points at the Melbourne Royal Wine Awards.

From over 700 entries, the 2022 Chalk Hill Tempranillo Grenache was selected as McLaren Vale’s Best Wine of Show 2023 by an impressive panel of judges from across Australia, and this is a new vintage after the 2022 vintage being sold out for months!

This is our most popular wine at our cellar door. A crowd favourite with universal appeal, the wine shines for its approachable, flavour packed and easy-drinking qualities.

Tasting Notes

Red berries, aromatic floral nose, Turkish delight and hints of red licorice mix with earthy leathery spice and background pepper. The palate is medium weighted showing a mix of fresh berry fruits- raspberry, mulberry and pomegranate, along with warm spice and dried herbs. The wine has a vibrant acidity and a lovely line of fine minerally tannin. This wine drinks well young, but will cellar for 5-7 years

Winemaking Notes

The blending of Tempranillo with Grenache sees each wine bringing flavours that enhance the other. Tempranillo with cherry, leather, dark berries, plums and spice, while the Grenache brings floral notes, strawberry, raspberry, liquorice and orange rind.
