The picturesque location of Hohen-Sülzen, nestled in the Eisbach Valley, is decisive for the outstanding feature of their wines. The singularity of the winemaking art here arises from the thermal fluctuations guaranteed by the prevailing microclimate, which gives the wines a refreshing liveliness and elegance despite their high maturity.

Processing Process

The Angebinde, Sylvaner Alte Reben, comes from valuable semi-centenary vines. A selection of grapes ripened to the point was carried out manually and led to natural fermentation in 1200-litre wooden barrels. Maturing on its fine lees until the following summer, the wine unfolds its optimal expressiveness.

Color

The eye meets a deep golden yellow, subtly interspersed with green nuances.

Aroma

The 2020 Hohensülzen Silvaner Alte Reben triumphs with a bouquet of herbal fragrances. Dominant basil, nettle, lime blossom and elderflower aromas harmonize with hints of grapefruit, citrus, Granny Smith apple and passion fruit. Intense minerality rounds off the fragrance experience.

Taste

The first taste perception is almost painfully pleasant. The complex notes present themselves intensely with mineral undertones and a salty note. The palate is opulently played, paired with a delicate tannin structure that lasts in the finish and animates hearty dishes.
