Ellis Wines Heathcote Signature Shiraz 2019 x 6 Bottles 95pts Halliday

A family owned and run venture, Ellis wines was established in 1999 and for 10 years they sold their fruit off to other wineries before establishing their own label in 2009. In only a relatively short period of time they have built a reputation for producing high quality Heathcote Shiraz grown on the regions famous Cambrian soils. Today the vineyard has grown to over 200 acres in size.
Matured in a mixture of French and American oak barrels for 18 months. Pitch black core with a dark red black tinged hue. Potent aniseed, dark plum and black cherry scents fill the nostrils complimented by some toasty vanillin oak, fennel and peppered earth notes. Rich aniseed, dark plum and black cherry fruits carry ample flesh across the medium to full bodied palate with notions of toasty vanillin oak, fennel and peppered earth the underbelly. Sturdy tannin construction with a lengthy finish that has a lingering toasty oak component running through it.
