Basileus Grenache 2020 x 6
VINEYARD
Basileus is a Greek term that has signified various types of Monarchs throughout history.
In the English speaking world, it has most widely been understood to mean ‘King’.
The Barossa is the King of wine regions in Australia. To celebrate this, we have sourced
small parcels of grapes from selected growers in the Barossa Valley and handcrafted them
into wine to reflect this name in our small batch winery.
WINEMAKING
Fruit was harvested and crushed into small open fermenters. Once fermentation was
complete each parcel was gently basket pressed and maturation occurred in seasoned
French oak puncheons. Each barrel was kept separate throughout the winemaking process
and the blending was good fun. Our aim was to produce a vibrant red wine with inspiration
coming from the great red wines of the Rioja region of Spain. The wine was bottled
without fining or filtration to retain its delicate freshness, vibrancy and punchy fruit.
This small batch wine reflects the sites, season and soil.
Deep crimson purple. Blueberries, cherries and raspberry with hints of spice.
A medium bodied red blend bursting with layers of bright red
berry fruit flavour and seductive tannins. A wine of poise, vibrancy
and drinkability.
