Fans of Freeman Vineyards Italian range from the Hilltops region in NSW, especially their Nebbiolo, will know how good those wines can be. Matt Burton has sourced Nebbiolo for this delicious Rosé from Brian Freeman, so expectations are automatically high. And met! The team press off skins after half a day’s contact and the juice wild ferments while cloudy, in old puncheons, before maturation on lees in barrel for four months. The colour is a gentle sunset pink. Lovely spicy floral aromatics help show the versatility of this famous grape. An elegant style with drive and focus, fine acidity and a long, lovely finish. A rather special Rosé which is both elegant and intense. Drink now for five years. If you love Rosé, chase this – you won’t find many better. Matt says this is the first time he has worked with Nebb. You’d never know.
