Kanta Adelaide Hills Reisling 2024 x 12
Product Description
Kanta Riesling by Egon Müller is a unique winemaking partnership where German tradition and precision meets the premium, cool climate fruit from the Adelaide Hills. Kanta partners, Egon Müller and Michael Andrewartha are pleased to announce the fifth release from this unique, cross-cultural winemaking project. Since its inception in 2005 they have proudly watched Kanta come of age.
Growing season:
Weather conditions during spring were mild to warm, encouraging strong
canopy development. Constant mild to warm weather continued during
November resulting in perfect conditions for flowering. Leading into
summer conditions remained warm and dry with rainfall being lower than
average. The warm dry conditions contributed to lower than average disease
pressure. This was a perfect growing season, with high yields and exceptional fruit
quality.
Tasting Notes:
The Argyle Vineyard is a high altitude Adelaide Hills site that sits over 400m
above sea level and is flecked with traces of iron stone. Rejuvenated in 1999,
the original plantings date back to the 1840s making them some of the oldest
vines in South Australia.
100% Riesling
Adelaide Hills, Echunga, Argyle Vineyard
The fruit was cold soaked for 8 hours, after which fermentation was allowed
to commence naturally using the indigenous yeasts that occur in the
vineyard. The wine is then held in tank on lees for over 6 months before
being bottled.
2024 Kanta Riesling
On the nose, Kanta 2024 unveils a complex combination of beeswax,
elderflower, fennel and spearmint.
The palate is soft and delicate with notes of aniseed, chamomile, honeydew
melon and lemon zest. This youthful vintage of Kanta is incredibly
approachable now, with the potential to evolve beautifully with age.
