Redbank The Eyrie Pinot Noir 2023 x 12
Product Description
Our high altitude King Valley vineyard is home to a block of 30-year-old, cane pruned, MV6
clone Pinot Noir. Perched on the escarpment of the valley, eagles nest in treetops in their eyries.
These majestic birds, can be seen soaring on the thermal winds rising from the valley floor, keep
a watchful eye over the vineyard throughout the year, their presence a sentinel to others to stay
away. The Eyrie Pinot Noir captures the purity and depth of its high altitude terroir, making it a
true reflection of our belief that altitude is everything.

WINEMAKING
Widely respected as producing the highest quality Pinot Noir, the MV6 clone (also known as Mothervine 6) is small bunched and has low crop potential, it does incredibly well in cool, wet
climates. It produces wines that are balanced, complex and with rich aromatics and good consistency.
50% of the fruit has been handpicked. 50% of the batch has been whole bunch fermented, with multiple small batch ferments, creating added complexity and structure. These small batch ferments maintain precision and control, allowing for the true expression of the vineyard's unique terroir. A
prolonged cold soak prior to fermentation maximized the extraction of colour and flavour and stem tannins. Fermentation was initiated with a mix of both wild and cultured yeasts,
bringing out a layered, nuanced character. Aged for six months in 45% new French oak barrels.
TASTING NOTES
The nose has aromas of cedar, spice and strawberry. The palate is long with notes of strawberry alongside spicy tannin structure from the stalk ferment and barrel aging. Acidity on the
palate is well structured, a crisp finish from 100% natural acid.
