Impenetrable pitch black heart with an equally deep dark red black hue. Wafting through the nostrils are heady ripe blackberry, liquorice and dark plum aromas which intermesh with vanillin oak, hints of dark chocolate, scorched earth and pepper. Exuberantly rich and densely concentrated, the hefty palate is saturated with opulent blackberry, liquorice and dark plum fruits which are framed by firm, muscular tannins. Spicy vanillin oak, scorched earth and peppered fennel characters tail off through the finish. Magnificent power with a long, lushly fruited yet rather robust conclusion. Still remarkably youthful this can be cellared a further 10-20 years.
