Our original vineyard is millions of years in the making.
Over eons, ancient Cambrian greenstone has been weathered into
the rich red dirt that distinguishes a premium Heathcote shiraz.
Handpicked and aged in exquisite French oak, The Origin reflects
the ever-changing landscape: rich, restrained and long on the palate.
VINEYARD
Grown predominantly on finely structured red soil overlayed with
textured clay, this wine is made from our Newlans Lane Vineyard
located 7 kilometres South of Heathcote. With clonal, age and
soil diversity between the Shiraz blocks located on the Estate,
this Shiraz captures the essence of what makes Heathcote a truly
world class Shiraz producing wine region.
HARVEST
The fruit is hand harvested and whole berry fermented in individual
batches to preserve the clonal diversity. French oak is used to
highlight structure and work alongside the elegant and restrained
fruit flavours of this wine, not to overwhelm and dominate.
TASTING NOTE
Bright dark red purple in colour, this wine is hypnotic – a floral
bouquet entwined with fresh red berries and sweetly spiced
French oak highlights. These aromas combine to produce a wine
that is both complex and engaging. The palate is balanced, fresh
and alluring coupled with fine yet supportive tannins and vibrant
primary fruit flavours.
