Ox Hardy Upper Tintara Vineyard Shiraz 2022 x 12
Product Description
Deep bright purple in colour. Inky blackberry, red currants, raspberry and aniseed on the nose. An inky texture on the palate, red and black fruits with a. fleshy mid palate and a savory finish. The 2022 show the uniqueness of the Upper Tintara vineyard terroir; a medley of inky blue fruit and a savoury and ferruginous heart which my father used to say was good for the soul.
2022 was a cool growing season with mild temperatures during harvest.
Sourced from twenty-year-old vines in one of my favourite parts of the
vineyard. The fruit was left to ferment in open top fermenters, with daily
plunging down. It was then transferred to old and new oak barrels
(15%) for 15 months maturation.

"Generosity without extravagance"
95 Points
I defy anyone to find Shiraz from such a significant vineyard that's close to this in quality and price. Plum and ripe cherry, baking spices and some earthy grit. Flesh without fat, curvy but never cumbersome. Generosity without extravagance. This is a contemporary Shiraz of the finest provenance.

'...a very engaging wine.'
93 Points
From three blocks on the historic family vineyard, each planted around '00; destemmed and crushed into open-top fermenters; matured in barriques and hogsheads, 15% new, with 15 months' élevage. A cool year, and a relatively elegant wine, though one shot through with ferrous minerality and earthiness. Blue and red fruits, violet, damson, iodine and soft licorice with bushland scents and split red gum. A measured juiciness, sense of place and poise make this a very engaging wine.
