THE 2012 VINTAGE – The 2012 vintage was marked by challenging but ultimately rewarding conditions for Charles Heidsieck. Despite heavy rains and stormy spring weather, followed by a hot, dry summer, the vines were able to thrive.
Maturity developed rapidly, and the grapes were healthy, with minimal rot and excellent sanitary conditions. The high yields allowed winemakers to replenish reserves after a difficult 2011, and the resulting wines were fresh, fruity, and elegant.
TO THE EYE:
Delicate, lively bubbles release a deep, elegant copper hue.
ON THE NOSE:
Concentrated and powerful, with generous floral and fruity aromas. Floral notes of peony, rose and violet are carried by a frame of white musk. On swirling, a wealth of fruits come to the fore: blueberry, blackberry, raspberry, pomegranate, lemon and blood orange.
ON THE PALATE:
Refined, with a high concentration of fruity aromas, from red and black berries to citrus and exotic fruit. Generous and characterful as it develops on the palate, offering a peppery, tangy and spirited finish, filled out by notes of liquorice and tea.
